HOW TO GET A PHILIPPINE PASSPORT

HOW TO GET A PHILIPPINE PASSPORT
Based from experience, processing a government document in the Philippines is not an easy thing. There are lots of things to secure beforehand before going to a certain agency.

Ever since a passport is one of the most requested documents that every Filipino hope to obtain as to be used majorly for travelling.

So here are helpful tips that you can use in acquiring your passport:

    1. Applicants should contact the DFA for the latest passport information.

    2. Secure an appointment.
Fill in your personal information. Make sure to complete all the needed fields with accurate information. Choose an appointment date and time as well as the location of your desired DFA office, by this, you can save yourself with the hassle of a long queue.

    3. Visit the nearest Regional DFA offices without setting an appointment.
DFA-Batangas and DFA-Lucena are just some of the offices not requiring a formal appointment. Be prepared though because there are peak days when there will be many applicants. You are lucky if you visit on a day when there are few applicants.

    4. Prepare the needed requirements.
Bring in original and photocopied form of printed copy of the application form (if you’re up to tip), an authenticated NSO Birth Certificate (for new applicants), at least one government-issued ID (eg. SSS ID, Driver’s License, TIN ID, etc.), but if you don’t any of the aforementioned bring at least 3 of the supporting documents (eg. Voter’s ID, Marriage Contract, NBI Clearance, Police Clearance, Barangay Clearance, Seaman’s Book).

    5. The DO’s on your appointment date.
Be there at the location at least one hour before your schedule. Present your application form at the appointment counter. Secure a queue number at the information counter and wait until you see your number on the TV monitor. Sometimes, the guards are the ones giving the number and informing applicants on who is next by simply saying it.

    6. Set aside the amount for payment.
After processing, pay the applicable passport processing fees. Pay Php950 for Regular Processing (20 working days) while Php1200 for Express Processing (10 working days).

    7. Dress appropriately.
Just make sure that your attire is formal or at least semi-formal. Avoid mini-skirts, shorts, low neckline shirts showing your cleavage, spaghetti shirts, or anything that makes you appear indecent.

    8. After paying the price for the processing fees, proceed to the Encoding Section and photo capturing.
In taking your photo remember that earrings and contact lens are not allowed and smiling with visible teeth is also prohibited.

    9. Choose how you will claim your passport.
    a) Claim your passport at the same DFA venue where you applied.
    b) Have it delivered by a courier w/ a fee of Php120.

    IMPORTANT REMINDERS!
    1. Don’t deal with fixers.
    2. If ever, bring anything that will shield you from the heat of the sun.
    3. Bring with you a bottled water and some sorts of snack.
    4. Only immediate family members with legal age are allowed to claim the passport in behalf of the applicant.
    5. Patience is a virtue. This will really be helpful when you process so have lots of it with you.
    6. Once you have your passport, be careful with it as it has sensitive electronic features. Make sure that your document is protected from bending, perforating or exposing to extreme temperature or excess moisture. You surely do not want your money and effort be wasted.
Good luck on your first step towards discovering things around the world!
